Event Details

One of the great early Jamaican reggae singers, Pablo Moses’ voice and roots sound are the original, classic experience. He recorded his landmark debut album, “A Revolutionary Dream” (engineered at the Black Ark by Lee “Scratch” Perry), in 1975, just as reggae was going from cult status to global popularity. The album was released in the U.S. as “I Love I Bring” and included the hit “I Man a Grasshopper.” A dozen albums later, Moses continues to uphold and sing about the issues that defined his debut: Rastafarianism, justice, and human rights, personal and global. After a 15-year break from the studio, in 2010 Moses released his ultimate lyric stance with the CD “The Rebirth,” filled with uplifting messages and driving rhythms in such new songs as “We Have the Capability” and “Jah Will Make a Way.” He also reunited some of the greatest Jamaican musicians to back him in the studio, including Sly and Robbie, Dwight Pickney, Sticky, and Skully.

Moses remains one of the most original and outspoken roots reggae artists in Jamaica and has toured extensively worldwide. He is a teacher, a father, and a revolutionary who remains true to the path that he has taken as a voice of the poor and oppressed people in the world.
